Wife seeks increased maintenance 25 years after divorce
The Daily Telegraph reports that Philippa Vaughan, the former wife of a barrister, is this week applying to the Court of Appeal in an effort to reinstate, at a higher sum, maintenance payments that were terminated in a hearing last year. The couple were married in 1967 and divorced in 1985. The husband, David Vaughan QC, was originally ordered to pay maintenance of £27,000 per year. Last year Mrs Vaughan applied for a lump sum of £560,000 on the basis that the original award was inadequate. Although a Deputy High Court Judge dismissed the application and terminated the original maintenance award, Mrs Vaughan’s appeal against that order will be heard this week. More on this to follow......
